Mili has probably played the best in her short acting carrer. At least the success of Monpura is the evidence of that. As Pori is the central character of the Monpura, so the success of it has to do with the perfect acting of Pori or Mili. And this is what is agreed upon by the director and the audience. How does the actress feel when her first movie was realized? Mili smile a bit, listening to this question. As if somewhat different feeling is lying hidden, inside her smile. Afterwards she said,” Its inexplicable through speech.
A mysterious experience, of course a good one. It feels that all the hopes and aspiration are in that feeling. If I say it feels good only, it will never express my entire feeling. I can only feel this in my heart. And I believe those who have already watched or be watching this movie can share my feeling.” On listening to the question, how did you feel when you saw yourself in the big screen? Mili said,”When the footage of Monpura came from Chennai, I could not believe that it’s me.” Lot of people said the character of Pori has superseded strongly over Farhana Mili. And this issue has stirred me a lot.
On the very first day when Monpura was released Mili watched the movie in three different halls. She watched the entire movie sitting in a normal rear stall gallery. I was trying to watch the movie attentively. But every time my attention was shifting to the audience’s eyes. How they are taking it and what was their reaction? Everybody was very nervous in our unit; this is how she described her experience in the cine-halls. The total unit along with me was very surprised to see the audience reception. At last, we understood that we really did something. The audiences at Balaka enjoyed the movie, we heard praising from everybody. Lot of well wishers wished through phone.
Coming to the Star Cineplex, I saw it was also housefull. And appreciations were coming out of the Star Cineplex, I went to the Obhishar Cinema Hall; I was surprised looking at the long queue at the ticket counter. The thing which I have enjoyed the most is that…despite the difference of the audience of Cineplex and Obhishar, interestingly all of them accepted the movie in the same way. And it means Monpura is a movie which will appeal to all classes of audience. This is how Mili described ger feelings and experience to Stardom.
“Monpura” is successful. Now what is next?” smiling Mili says,” I got the reward of my long hard work and patience. Now give me a break for a few days. Actually I don’t want to go with the main stream. I only want, what I will do, the audience should enjoy. I don’t want to do many movies. But what I will do, it will be a whole hearted effort. and of course I need blessings from every of my viewers.
With piles of doubts in head on 13th February acclaimed actor-director Giasuddin Salim’s first film ‘Monpura’ was released. As this film was made with small screen actors many movie specialists thought it wouldn’t be able to attract audience. But that opinion was crushed on the first week of movie’s release.
Salim’s creative style, Bangla romantic story and strong organizational work after release got ‘Monpura’ to cross over last 25 years of movie success history. It’s been 100 days since Monpura’s continuous success countrywide from day one of its release. So naturally its creator will be happy about all this.
How do you feel about exactly 100 days of success? Salim says, of course I am happy. There is no reason to be sad. But it is true that there is a lot of pressure, day after day hall owners from distant corners of country come asking for Monpura.
I have to discuss with them, have to buy and sell, still giving every effort to prevent piracy, and also slowly getting familiar with this new world called film. I am learning a lot, because drama was a really known place like my family.
And movie means all of Bangladesh. As in I am going across one Bangladesh with Monpura. It is a really hard work that cannot be expressed with words. And about the feeling of completing 100 days I would say this much, when I started making the film since then I had a plan and dream that country’s hall averse people would again come back to halls together.
Perhaps everybody dreams of this, especially the ones who made or are making new movies. I got to grasp dream in last 100 days. I believe that Monpura will pursue more 500 cinema halls of the country in next 200 days. It has only been 200 halls.
It is not a dream, I can clearly see it. In the meantime besides planning for Monpura’s 200 days Giazuddin Salim started to work on a new movie. After unexpected sky high success of first movie Salim’s plans regarding new movie are shaping into unimaginable form. It has been said that possible name of the movie is ‘Kajol Rekha’.
On the matter Salim informed, the story of the movie is complete. But before finalizing its name and actors, he completely refused to open his mouth about it. After Monpura with whom and what kind of movie will this creator make- to satisfy the mass curiosity about this in media and viewers some possible information has been given.
He said, with the new movie we want to go back to a moment thousand years back. For this along with scripting lots of research and meetings have been done about its location, set design, clothes and filming. We are looking for new faces as actor and actress for this movie. There is a good possibility that Prova will be in heroine’s role.
Although he could not give full guarantee about Prova Salim said, in this movie Humayun Faridi is coming in a special character. Moreover Chanchal-Mili will also be present. But in the movie this couple will appear more like guest roles. With loads of confidence from first movie this creator is going ahead with an unimaginable arrangement for his second movie; the shooting of which will start from the beginning of next year.
Monpura is one of the most successful films in country’s history. Director Giazuddin Salim chose Farhana Mili as leading actress. He hit the jackpot with her debut movie. She did not even think that she would be so successful. Presently she is shooting in the drama directed by Tarik Anam.
Written by Aminul Islam created for BTV this is a public awareness play. Before this she acted in the lead role in play based on short story ‘Bubu’ written by Akhtaruzzaman Ilias Ramiz. She has some more plays in her hand. But she is not doing any new movies at the moment.
Then did Monpura fail to convey the message to commercial film world- replying to question like this Mili said, I do not understand all these but offers for some movies came. As they were not ideal I rejected the offers. Born in Nawabganj Mili grew up among wind and light of old Dhaka’s Nawabpur.
She passed her SSC in science division from Banglabazar government girls’ high school and then HSC from Mahanagar Women’s College. And then honors in drama from Jahangirnagar University. Her only brother is her classmate in same department. Mili wants to make her place in viewer’s heart with varieties of roles.
Mili believes that with good story and filmmaking through Bangla Cinema viewers can be brought back to halls. Mili can obviously say that. Since Monpura proved that. She replied to questions about marriage as if it is asked frequently, time to think about all these still hasn’t come.
