Monpura’s 100 days

With piles of doubts in head on 13th February acclaimed actor-director Giasuddin Salim’s first film ‘Monpura’ was released. As this film was made with small screen actors many movie specialists thought it wouldn’t be able to attract audience. But that opinion was crushed on the first week of movie’s release.

Salim’s creative style, Bangla romantic story and strong organizational work after release got ‘Monpura’ to cross over last 25 years of movie success history. It’s been 100 days since Monpura’s continuous success countrywide from day one of its release. So naturally its creator will be happy about all this.

How do you feel about exactly 100 days of success? Salim says, of course I am happy. There is no reason to be sad. But it is true that there is a lot of pressure, day after day hall owners from distant corners of country come asking for Monpura.

I have to discuss with them, have to buy and sell, still giving every effort to prevent piracy, and also slowly getting familiar with this new world called film. I am learning a lot, because drama was a really known place like my family.

And movie means all of Bangladesh. As in I am going across one Bangladesh with Monpura. It is a really hard work that cannot be expressed with words. And about the feeling of completing 100 days I would say this much, when I started making the film since then I had a plan and dream that country’s hall averse people would again come back to halls together.

Perhaps everybody dreams of this, especially the ones who made or are making new movies. I got to grasp dream in last 100 days. I believe that Monpura will pursue more 500 cinema halls of the country in next 200 days. It has only been 200 halls.

It is not a dream, I can clearly see it. In the meantime besides planning for Monpura’s 200 days Giazuddin Salim started to work on a new movie. After unexpected sky high success of first movie Salim’s plans regarding new movie are shaping into unimaginable form. It has been said that possible name of the movie is ‘Kajol Rekha’.

On the matter Salim informed, the story of the movie is complete. But before finalizing its name and actors, he completely refused to open his mouth about it. After Monpura with whom and what kind of movie will this creator make- to satisfy the mass curiosity about this in media and viewers some possible information has been given.

He said, with the new movie we want to go back to a moment thousand years back. For this along with scripting lots of research and meetings have been done about its location, set design, clothes and filming. We are looking for new faces as actor and actress for this movie. There is a good possibility that Prova will be in heroine’s role.

Although he could not give full guarantee about Prova Salim said, in this movie Humayun Faridi is coming in a special character. Moreover Chanchal-Mili will also be present. But in the movie this couple will appear more like guest roles. With loads of confidence from first movie this creator is going ahead with an unimaginable arrangement for his second movie; the shooting of which will start from the beginning of next year.

Emon is now going to work in Shaheen Shumon's film

Super model and actor of today’s contemporary media world Emon is now going to work in Shaheen Shumon’s film. Currently he has already signed up with ‘Titas Kothachitro’ for the next film of Shaheen Shumon, though the name and other things for the movie have not been fixed yet.

For the last few years Shakib Khan has worked with Shaheen in so many movies such as-’shameer Shongshar’, ‘Maa Amar Shorgo’, ‘Shontan Amar Ahongkaar’, ‘Tumi Amar Prem’ and etc. for the last two years, Shakib Khan was Shaheen Shumon’s main key weapon and that is why they even become popular as ‘the director of Shakib Khan sheebir’. Emon has broken the chain and entered in Shaheen’s circle.

Bravo! You have proved your caliber. Before this, another model has also worked in Shaheen Shumon’s movie as the co-artist of Shakib Khan; but this time Emon is going to be the main hero in his next film. In the recent time and in among the youngstars model come actor Emon is a much known name. emon started his career in acting with Humayun Ahmed written and Tauqeer Ahmed directed, ‘Daru Chini Deep’.

Later after Emon did the film, ‘Ak Buk Bhalobasha’, and now in his bag he has got many other offers from various directors and at present he is working with senior director Delwar Johan Jhontu in his new project called, ‘Shobai To Vhalobasha Chai’. In the following story we tried to excavate Emon’s likings and dislikings and also his experience as a new comer in the film fertility.

Model Emon really have had a tough time to come up to this stage, in his words he said that many times he had to hear those words that you are not capable enough and you just can’t work in the big media its too tough to be here. Hearing all this comments, Emon never took it by heart but instead he started working hard and harder and finally when his first film got to see the light then all those comment givers are now appreciating his work and also has praised him in many ways. But to Emon, still he thinks that it’s reallya long way to go. Emon come into the media as a model and in his word he always tried to be like model Nobel.

At first he got himself to some photographers and submit his photos to Matra and Asiatic and then he waited and waited for the call. Then suddenly one day the sun shined and he got a proposal from Shahrukh Amin to start modeling and later also he was asked that if he had got an international passport to go to Kolkata and to act for Sandalina Shop, thus his journey in modeling begun and till now he has worked for, Double Cola, Tetley Tea, Tibbet Lip Gel and finally Banglalink, which has really given him a big hike upwards. Later after Emon also has worked in so many dramas and tele-films and among them are Ejaj Munna’s, ‘Ak Akash Tara’, Choyonika Chowdhury’s, ‘Dui Bon’, Taher Shipon’s, ‘Kache Dure’, Shakal Ahmed’s, ‘Lucky 13’, Naim Imtiaz Neamul’s, ‘Praner Gohiney’, ‘111a Nelson Number’, Afzal Hossain’s, ‘Vanga Aainar Mukh’, Ashrafur Rahman’s, ‘Heetey Biporit’,and many others. On the other hand Emon is among those lucky actors who got the chance to work with all the big small media divas’ like Jaya Ahsan (FM Shongbad), Aupee Kareem, Tareen (Dui Bon) and also he worked in small media with two of the heart-throb heroine of big media and they are Moushumi (Love Bird) and Purnima (J Katha Amar MOner Katha & Heetey Biporit). In his words he described that working with all his co-actresses of high standards, he really has learned many things and also gathered a lot of experience which is definitely going to help him later after.

At present Emon wants concentrate totally in big media and that’s why he is working on it very hard, everyday he is practicing dance and fight and is trying to build his career and also trying to satisfy his viewers so that more the people wants him and more he can give us some new and good projects. Piritir Dokandari

After finishing it’s shooting in Sonargaon, Pubail and Savar the movie Piriter Dokandari is now shooting on a location in sector four of Uttara.

At first we observed a doctor and some nurses roaming around but later we found out that they all were acting in this very film. Later, we met the director of the film P A Kajol.

This is his 25th film and after the success of Hridi Talkies’ Ek Takar Bou and Praner Shami, this is his third production. The director believes that the viewers will like this film because it is a bit different as it talks about family and social problems.

The director also said that Nayok Raj Razzak’s acting in this movie was very soul touching and Shabana played a role where she talked in Noakhalis’ dialect. After almost more than 12 years, the two undisputed queen of Bengali music, Sabina Yasmeen and Runa Laila, sang together in the music of Shawkat Ali Emon.

Mr. N M Alamgir, the main assistant director, said that 70 percent shooting is almost completed. Bindu, Emon, Miju Ahmed, Kabila and child artist Dighi has also acted in this film.

Riaz and Tina first worked together in the dance show

Riaz and Tina first worked together in the dance show “Goalini Binodon Bichitra”. Subsequently they appeared as anchors on the musical talent hunt “Shah Cement Nirman Taroka”. On screen they are a star couple, but what about off screen? The Daily Star explores the conjugal lives of the two.

Everyone knew Riaz as a “hero” of the big screen. So did Tina. Back then Tina was a model, anchor as well as a connoisseur of classical dance. Tina was the first to come across him at a restaurant. The first time Riaz saw Tina was three years back, at his friend’s office in Dhanmondi where they were discussing an upcoming dance show (“Goalini Binodon Bichitra”). In Riaz’s words, “There was this girl, really childish and carefree. And I noticed her in the crowd. Later, my friend told me that she would be dancing with me on the show.”

After that the two met many times and spent hours talking over the phone. And over the years they gradually discovered the special connection between them. On December 18, 2007 they tied the knot. Although Riaz is a celebrated actor, most of his fans are unaware that he began his career as a pilot. At the moment he is also an entrepreneur. Presently he is occupied with his business concern, which is promoting a new product. “Within a year, I hope to settle down in my business. After that I am thinking about returning to my acting career. That may happen in late 2010, or early 2010. Let’s wait and see,” says Riaz.

Tina was more into hosting shows since she was a child. In fact the first show she anchored was a cartoon show: “Mon Cherry Tom and Jerry”. She has been modelling for around seven/eight years. She also teaches at BAFA in Uttara. When she is not busy, Tina visits Riaz at work. “Those are times when I can put a stop to my monotonous office work. She would come and use the computer to play Farmville or something, and I would just pack everything and watch her,” says Riaz.

How do you plan special days? “We don’t plan ahead,” Riaz says. “We love to go on vacations, attend parties, or movies; at times we just stay in, or go out to have ice-cream.” In a lighter vein, he adds, “At dead of night, sometime around 3am, Tina suddenly felt like having ice-cream. Now what could be done as all the shops were closed? Well, we took the car and set out in search of ice-cream. Not one ice-cream shop was open in sight. Later we went to the airport. That was a relief since they had ice-cream at the airport. The problem was that we had to buy tickets to get in. One of the people recognised me and helped us get some ice-cream.” “These impulsive moments keep the relationship interesting,” says a smiling Tina.
